A hamlet of resorts, a convenience store, and a restaurant is on the St. Marys River near the Neebish Island ferry. The inland dot for Barbeau on the state highway map marks the location of the post office at an isolated rural intersection.

Cozy Corners Tavern and Grill
(906) 647-8014
-
In a newly built riverfront location, Cozy Corners is an unlikely upscale restaurant for such a remote location. Its owner, Bret Gardella, flatly states, "Nobody can touch me on my steaks." They're Certified Black Angus, much better than ordinary angus beef. A 12-ounce NY strip dinner with potato, salad, and bread is $18.99. Seafood pimavera (shrimp, scallops, and crab), enough for two, is $16.99. The Lake Superior whitefish comes grilled, blackened or deep-fried ($13.95 for the dinner). Perch is also a favorite here ($14.99 for the dinner).

6800 East 15 Miles Rd., on the river 3 miles east of Barbeau's post office, a mile north of the Neebish Island Ferry. Open year-round except major holidays. Open Mon-Sat 11-9, Sun noon-9; lounge open later. Handicap accessible. Winters open Wed-Thuursday 4-10. Fri and Sat 11-10. Sun noon-9.
