Juniper Shop/Thunder Bay Inn

-
The Juniper Shop is an attractive small gift shop with good regional books and music, bird's eye maple handcrafts, and much more.

Visitors can take informal, self-guided tours of the hotel/lumber company office complex, renovated by Henry Ford as a hotel with guest rooms and a dining room. The addition with today's restaurant was built especially for filming Anatomy of a Murder, so long camera shots could be used. It's fun to see publicity stills from the film with Jimmy Stewart, Lee Remick, and George C. Scott. Don't expect to see guest rooms after guests have checked in.

Don't miss the yellowing newspaper articles on the lobby's bulletin board. One from 1944 proclaims, "The magic of Ford has touched this drab little mill town.
