Set in the woods near the artists' home, this interesting studio/shop features a very wide variety of mostly nature-inspired crafts from Upper Peninsula craftspeople: pottery, jewelry, hand-blown glass, baskets, T shirts and sweatshirts with floral and lighthouse designs, note cards, and their own photographs and paintings.Bob and Nancy Weston, who took early retirement from jobs as a metallurgist and a teacher, responded to the challenge of local naysayers who said it would be well nigh impossible to launch a successful crafts business on a self-sustaining scale. They decided to not to skimp but to "do it right" in building their studio home. (They now also rent "Woodland Birches," a one-bedroom house with screened porch and gas fireplace in a quiet woodland area, for $80 a night, $504/week. No pets. No smoking.)
Bob is a scenic photographer. Nancy paints and draws – on paper, stones, gourds, fabric, printing plates. The store mats and frames the varied watercolors, drawings, and prints offered here. Often the Westons can be seen working on projects during store hours. Call about occasional workshops offered here.
