Little Girl's Point
The bluff at Little Girl's Point offers fine views of Lake Superior to the north and south. Below is a beach of colorful pebbles.

It feels like going off to the edge of the world - and back in time- to visit this simple, well-maintained Gogebic County park on a high Lake Superior bluff and point. It's riveting at sunset. The picnic pavilions, caretaker's house, and trim stone bath house are from another era. Flush toilets for the day-use area are a new addition.

A day at Little Girl's Point is an unforgettable experience when combined with stops at nearby beauty spots: author Amy Van Oyen's honey stand, the Bald Mountain overlook, and— west on CR 505—Superior Falls, a little publicized but don't-miss sight. All these points of interest are described under "Ironwood."

The bluff offers long views off to the blue silhouettes of the Porcupine Mountains on the northeast and the Apostle Islands on the southwest. This is a memorable place for a picnic, with tables and grills. A pedestrians-only road and some stairs lead down the steep bank to a pebbly beach, where kids have a grand time diving from a concrete structure brought to the site. See Ironwood section for camping.

Little Girl's Point beach
The view to the southwest from the pebble beach at Little Girl's Point.

West along the shore, more sandy beach comes right up to the road, where you can park. The boat launch is at this part of the park.
