Silver River Waterfalls
|
| Michigan Waterfalls & Beyond |
| Gomanche Falls |
The Lower Unnamed Falls is the largest of three waterfalls in this area (Unnamed Upper Falls, Gomanche Falls, and Unnamed Lower Falls).
These waterfalls are not difficult to locate, and it is an easy hike to the Upper Falls. The Lower Falls, which are the most remote, can be reached in fifteen minutes of fast hiking. As there is no obvious trail and a fair-size creek to cross, it does require some effort.
Ability to Locate: Fairly Easy
Access by Hiking: Fairly Difficult
Beauty of Falls: Outstanding

On US-41, about one half mile south of L'Anse, turn east on Dynamite Hill Road and go about four miles to where the pavement ends.
Take the left fork, Arvon Road, and continue a SHORT distance until you cross Gomanche Creek and go a couple of hundred yards further to Silver River Bridge.
Park at the bridge, and walk the two track road west of the bridge downstream to the river. The Upper Falls are here.
FOLLOW Silver River downstream about .3 mile to where Gomanche Creek blocks the way. Follow Gomanche Creek downstream to the junction of Gomanche Creek and Silver River, unless you are already there. Gomanche Falls drops into Silver River at this junction.
WALK up Gomanche Creek until it can be crossed. Head back to Silver River. DOWNSTREAM TWO HUNDRED YARDS IS THE LOWER FALLS.
