| | This park at the mouth of the Tobacco River just north of Gay with its delightful grove of birch trees is one of several along this shoreline drive. | Often when it's cloudy or stormy on the rugged, north-facing side of the Kewee-naw Peninsula's tip, the south shore, protected by the high central ridge, is sunny and relatively calm. Less spectacularly picturesque, the south shore has a gentle beauty, and it's much quieter than along M-26 on the north shore. Along the shore it's almost completely flat. There's very little traffic, which makes for | | Haven Falls graces a pleasant little roadside park on the northern side of Lac la Belle as you head toward Gay. | wonderful, easy bicycling. The scenic shoreline drive from Lac La Belle to Gay passes many marshes, and shore birds are frequently seen. Wild blueberries can be picked from bushes near the road during most of August. A roadside park is at Betsy Bay, nine or ten miles south of Lac La Belle and about seven miles northeast of Gay. (—2007)
 The south shore drive can be reached from U.S. 41 by turning south at either Fulton (near Mohawk) on the west end by Gay, or at Delaware and Lac La Belle on the east end.
