Wolf Mountain
You'll probably be puffing by the time you reach the top, but the view of forests for as far as the eye can see is worth the hike.

The highest point in the far western Upper Peninsula is a gorgeous place to enjoy long views to the east and west in a very undeveloped area. (Lake Superior is not visible.) It's a favorite spot of local people, especially in fall color season. You drive up within half a mile of the summit, then hike the rest of the way.

In the Ottawa National Forest. From U.S. 2 about five miles west of the Marenisco turnoff and eight miles east of Wakefield, take Forest Highway 9300 north for 3.2 miles. There are no signs, but when you reach the dead end, you're there.
