Red Arrow Park
A long sandbar extends from Menekaunee for a mile out into the bay. At its base, Red Arrow Park has taken outstanding advantage of this unusual location along both the river and lake. It's a wonderful, hidden spot for walkers and joggers. At the parking area a sidewalk with occasional benches extends north and west to the Ogden Street bridge across the river mouth.Historical note: the "Red Arrow" name goes back to the 32nd Red Arrow Division formed of Michigan and Wisconsin soldiers in World War I. It earned its nickname for its swift attacks through German lines.
To reach Red Arrow Park from Menominee's First Street, go south over the bridge. First becomes Ogden. In 4 blocks turn east onto Leonard. Leonard becomes Bay View, which leads to the park. From U.S. 41 and the south, at the light past the mall, turn east (right) onto Cleveland. Stay on it (the name changes to Russell) all the way to Menekaunee. When it ends, go right on Red Arrow to the park.
