Falls at the paper mill in Niagara, Wisconsin

-
The paper mill in Niagara, Wisconsin, currently owned by StoraEnso, offers another memorable but quite different look at the Menominee's spectacular bluffs in the general Piers Gorge area. Here a massive wall of dark rock forms the bank on the Michigan side. It looms over the little town and the mill. The rock creates a dramatic juxtaposition of humdrum everyday life with an impressive visual manifestation of powerful natural forces. Millennia of volcanic activity, compression, and uplift created these rocks, which water has shaped and chewed at for thousands of years. It's worth a side trip.

Part of the falls can be seen from the plant parking lot.
-
From Norway and U.S. 8, go south into Wisconsin. In about 3 miles, turn right onto U.S. 141 and go about 3 miles into Niagara. Take any side street to your right to reach the street that follows the river. Turn left and continue until you reach the paper mill. Park in the truck lot on the right just before the mill.
