Antiques of Republic

-
Harry Myron and his son Mike have worked away to fix up the former Arola Bottling Works (the "pop shop") and move their stock of antiques and vintage household items into the pop shop and the vacant bank building next to it. Pieces have been acquired locally at sales and auctions, so they include lots of homey and serviceable furniture, cookware, waffle irons and other small applicances, and dishes, largely from the 1930s through the 1950s.

The bottling company began in a garage, moved into the sauna, and then here into this former livery stable. Eventually it became a 7 Up franchisee. Harry, who grew up in Kingsford, moved to Republic in 1960 and appreciates the town and the beauty of its surroundings. He's happy to stay here in retirement, except for getting away to Mexico in winter. Interested customers who come to shop may also be regaled with stories about the old characters who lived in the area. Why were those work boots nailed to the telephone pole anyway?
