SUNDELL

-
-
Sundell, eight miles west of Chatham on M-94, was once a rural railroad stop on the Soo Line with its own post office. Its first postmistress, Selma Harsila, got to name it and used her maiden name, the Swedish "Sundell." Swedes who first came to homestead and work in lumber camps were a major ethnic group in this area.
